Jens is a dedicated rabbit breeder since childhood and Viola devoted herself quite successfully to breeding and training Hanovarian and Oldenburg riding horses.

However, this was not enough for our ambition, and therefore our first litter of Riesenschnauzer puppies "von der Ilmenau" was born in 2004. From the start we have been giving a great many thoughts to mating. First we investigate thoroughly online for siblings, parents or offspring of interesting stud dogs to collect as many information as possible, for example the healthiness of a line. Usually we want to see the males on sight in order to find out whether they match with our females and to get a picture of their character. Furthermore we pay attention to breeding lines. We don't want them being too close together in order to get a larger genetic pool with as healthy a line of ancestors as possible. For this reason we often drive long distances to see the stud dogs.

Once the puppies are born, we place great emphasize on their socialization because the foundation for resilient, characterful and confident Riesenschnauzers simply is laid at the breeder's.

Furthermore a good contact with our puppy buyers is important to us: Gladly we would like to be the partners for a - hopefully- long and healthy dog's life.

Part of our pack- besides us and the dogs- are our daughters Ramona and Finja. They both don't live at home anymore. But they support us "if worst comes to worst". The dogs are living with us in our house.

Our breeding goal is a smart, handsome and standard-compliant "Riese" with an honest nature and an enrichment to family life.
